Diablo 2 Best Act 2 Merc For Sorc Eress Guide, What is The Best Merc For Fire/Cold Sorc?
I don’t think the frozen A2 Merc is the best option for me since I already cast Frozen Orb.
Đang xem: Best act 2 merc for sorc
I am a returning player from the 1.09 Days.. I used to PVP a lot and always went with an A1 Merc.. Is this a viable option for PVM? Or is an act 2 Aura merc better? PVP seems to be a thing of little interest on Bnet.. so If an A1 merc isn’t beneficial then that’s fine.
Looks like most people roll around with an a2 merc though..
Any help on this decision would be great.
Best Act 2 Merc For Sorc
Unfortunately a2 merc is the strongest due to the auras they give. I say “unfortunately” because I get tired of seeing them all the time. Just wish the others were as viable.
I did use an a5 merc for awhile. Lawbringer, Treachery, G Face all made him a powerhouse. Ctc Decrepify from Lawbringer made him incredibly useful for a melee character. Sanctuary aura proved to be great crowd control.
However an a5 merc isn’t as useful for a caster character, imo.
By all means, experiment with merc builds. I keep wanting to make an a3 and stack FCR and +skills gear on him. But I’m not sure which character would be best for that.
Basically, most people use an a2 merc because they are tanky and provide useful auras. I personally prefer Defiance over the others, due to the merc’s added survivavility. I understand the arguments in favor of holy freeze, but I love my barbarian’s merc having around 25k defense after Shout.

I’d run a holy freeze merc because HF can chill enemies that are cold immune.
Rock insight because it’s so damn cheap and provides infinite mana
Get a life steal helm and you’ll be set.
Defiance is only going to help your merc, as the sorc defense is so low it doesn’t matter. Holy freeze keeps you AND him alive.

Thanks. Hm true. And it’s not like I am going to be right in the face of anything really unless I port into them.. in which case you’re probably right it’s better to have them chilled.. however I heard the chill doesn’t work with bosses?

I use an A2 normal combat merc. Prayer + med from Insight is a fantastic combination that’s saved me a number of times.

A2 mercs are super common because they have a lot of strong options (and insight/infinity are obviously strong as fuck).
You could just opt for the merc with Might aura, so he can deal with those random monsters that are immune to both cold and fire for you quicker.
See also Best Burger In Hoboken - The 10 Best Burgers In Hoboken (Updated July 2021IMO the other act mercs are highly underrated but can be class/build dependent.
A5 mercs can dish out some serious damage and that’s what I would suggest in your situation (if you really don’t care for meditation aura from insight)

other mercenaries are not underrated, it just sucks ass that a2 mercenaries are so much more powerful because of the auras they give and the auras you can have on polearms. I’d consider other mercenaries for fighters for the Fanaticism aura, for example you can give Faith to an a1 merc instead of having it on your character
If d2 would get a remake/remaster the mercenary utility would be my top 1 thing to address.

I got sorc Orb/Ball and my merc got Andy Visage for LL and str, but you can also use crown of thieves, as it is a little cheaper. For armor, I use Stone (cheaper than infinity but also works well) or you can try using Treachery runeword – keeps merc alive very well). As for weapon, mine got Insight for infinite mana pretty much. Very cheap and effective set up.

What about a A2 norm def for defiance aura? The holy freeze aura provides more aggro to your merc though, while defiance makes him more tanky. And everything besides A2 will not wear an Insight.
A1 is not quite useful in PvM, the only use for her I got is giving her Harmony for a lvl10 vigor.
If you really want something else get an A5 with Lawbringer.

Thank you. I think you answered my questions perfectly. I started last Friday and am already lvl 65ish. Just started hell, and did a few magic find runs and my only good drop was a shaftstop so I think it’s time for me to make a hire of a Merc and I can def make a harmony too. Def ganna run defiance thank you.

I believe that the holy freeze aura works on the generic slow spell/effect cap (decipify, slow on weapons), and that your freezing effect on your sorc is in a different category — hence they should stack for a greater slowing effect.
Since I havent played a sorc in a long, long time (before mercs were anything more than a novelty), I can only guess the greater slowing is useful to keep your merc safe. it helps slow down dangerous group and you teleport him back to safety to nuke it down before he runs in to commit suicide. Also the effectiveness of slow from freezing with cold spells/effects is nerfed in hell difficulty while the the generic slow effects are not nerfed, making merc slow even more useful.

I currently use Andariel/Treachery/Reaper’s Toll. I used Insight before, but with Treachery and Reaper’s Toll the merc dies a lot less and I can handle drinking mana potions. I consider switching to Obedience since I have an eth Thresher which can be Larzuked to 5 sockets.

DIABLO 2 BEST MERCENARY – D2 MERC GUIDE
DIABLO 2 MERCENARIES – DIFFERENT IN EACH ACT
There are different types of mercs that are viable in each act of Diablo 2. In this article, we will go over the best merc for each act.
ACT 1 – The best merc for Act 1 is the Javazon. The reason for this is that she has the ability to stun enemies, which is very useful in the early stages of the game.
ACT 2 – The best merc for Act 2 is the Necromancer. The reason for this is that the merc will summon spirits. These spirits are very useful because they can also cast curses on enemies, which comes in very handy when fighting bosses in Act 2.
ACT 3 – The best merc for Act 3 is the Paladin. The reason for this is that he can heal himself and my have infinite life if they are using the Holy Shield skill.
ACT 4 – The best merc for Act 4 is the Barbarian. He has high damage, life leech and cleave (which causes extra damage to multiple enemeis).
ACT 5 – The best merc for Act 5 is the Druid because he can cast very powerful spells that do lots of elemental damage.
THE BEST ACT 2 MERC IN DIABLO 2
The best merc for Act 2 is the Succubus. She can summon skeletons which are very useful when fighting powerful boss monsters in Act 2. The reason why she’s better than a regular necromancer is because her skeletons have more life and they hit harder, which makes taking out monsters much easier.
Diablo 2 Sorc Merc gear
If you’re looking to outfit your mercenary with the best gear for a level 40 or 99 sorc, here’s what you’ll want to aim for.
For your weapon, you’ll want something with a lot of fire damage. The best option is the Balrog Spear, which requires a lot of time spent in the labyrinth for it to drop. Another viable option is a Windforce, which has huge damage, +1 sorc skills, and faster cast rate. If you can’t get your hands on either of those, a good rare or unique flamberge or battleaxe will also work.
For your armor, you’ll want something with a lot of fire resistance. The best option is the Blackoak shield, which drops from the Countess and has huge fire resistance. Another viable option is Duriel’s Shell (set armor), which has huge fire resistance and +1 to sorc skills. Or you can go with another rare or unique armor, like a Shaftstop (set armor), Arreat’s Face, or a Skin of the Vipermagi.
See also The Witcher 3: Witcher 3 Best Place To Sell Weapons, Where to sell Junk Witcher 3For your helm, you want something with +skills and as much resistance as you can get. A good rare or unique helm would be the Guillaume’s Face, which has 10% Crushing Blow, +1 to all skills, and lots of resistance. Another viable option is the Andariel’s Visage (set helm), which has fire resistance, poison length reduction, and 10% Deadly strike.
For gloves, you want Hellmouths if you can get them. Other good options are rare or unique gloves that have lots of res, life leech, crushing blow, open wounds, or faster cast rate.
For your boots, you want to go with rare or unique boots that have lots of res, life leech, poison resistance, open wounds, Crushing Blow, Faster Cast Rate, or magic find.
For your belt, you want to go with a rare leather belt with +skills, life leech, poison resistance, cold resistance.
For your rings and amulet, you want rares/uniques with +skills, life leech, fire and poison resistance, mana leech, faster cast rate, magic find.
That’s all for the gear! Remember, these are just some general suggestions – you can mix and match as you see fit to create the best gear set-up for your own mercenary. So get out there and start slaughtering demons with your powerful sorceress sidekick!
